What makes Jena Golden Photography unique?

Our full service professional portrait studio strives to give a completely custom experience to each client that walks into our door. From the sets we create to our unique shooting locations to the personalized custom design service with every product, clients can feel confident that they’re investing in the absolute best portrait experience.

What is the best time for senior portraits?

We can photograph seniors all year round in the studio!  Typically the summer before senior year is the most popular for senior sessions.  If you are choosing an outdoor senior session, we recommend scheduling between April-October.  If you would like us to submit images to your yearbook for a senior ad, please be mindful of your school's deadline (usually September / October).

What should I wear for my session?

When you schedule a session with us, you’ll also schedule a pre-consult to take place at the studio or over the phone. During the consultation, we’ll go over your ideas for your session, the best wardrobe to compliment your ideas, what to bring with you, and how to be best prepared.

How long does the photoshoot process take?

For most shoots, we recommend calling the studio at least 2 months in advance of your desired session date, but we’re occasionally able to take last-minute sessions if our schedule allows it! For Maternity and Newborn sessions, give us a call when you’re in your second trimester to make sure we are able to set aside time for time-sensitive shoots.

After you book, you will receive tons of information!  Your pre-session consult will be scheduled about 2 - 3 weeks before your session.  Shoots themselves vary in length and can be anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours long. Your Session Premiere & Design Appointment (where you view & order your portraits) is scheduled about 2 weeks after your session takes place. After you order, order fulfillment time depends on the type of product ordered - for example, prints and cards arrive within 4 weeks, custom frames and album 6 weeks.

Do you offer mini sessions?

Yes! We run an exclusive number of Simplicity Sessions throughout the year that are announced first to our VIP LIST, then on the Facebook Page and the Blog. Watch those spaces carefully - session specials sometimes sell out within hours!

When will my session take place?

Jena Golden Photography offers creative portrait sessions year-round mostly on weekday mornings.  Evening and weekend availability is very rare (especially during the school year) and requires an addition fee.  Our outdoor sessions begin around 9:00am.  In the summer we like to get started even earlier to beat the heat!  Indoor natural light sessions take place between 10am and 3pm.

When booking your session keep in mind how hot our Georgia summers can be. Because of this April through June are excellent times to book your senior session if you plan to choose an outdoor location.  Yes, it's a little early, but well worth it :)

Where will we shoot?
Your session will begin at the studio. Depending on the session you've chosen we will either shoot here at the studio or one of our chosen locations.

*Additional travel fees will apply for any locations more than 10 miles from our Forsyth County, GA studio.

How much should I budget for portraits?

Each session has its own minimum investment, starting at 350 for our Mini Sessions up to 1250 for our wildly popular Senior Experience Session.  While most of our families invest $2000+ on their Custom Portraits that is certainly not a requirement.  We offer a variety of print products and heirloom specialty products. The most popular are our ready to hang Canvas Gallery Art, Custom Press Printed Albums, Archival Image Boxes and High Resolution Digital Files.

We do open the studio up for Exclusive Mini Sessions a few times a year.  This is a way to get the same quality without the entire experience, which makes it more economical.  Budget $350 - $500 for our mini sessions.  If you would like to be placed on our call list for mini sessions please email us here: jenagoldenphotography@gmail.com.

Do you have payment plans?

Yes. We will ALWAYS work with a client. We offer payment financing plans through a third party vendor.  This allows you to receive your portraits without having to wait until the balance is paid in full.

My school has a contract photographer for senior pictures.  Do I have a choice?

Discount school contract photographers pay a commission to the schools who hire them for the yearbook.  Yes, you are required to be photographed by them for the yearbook drape / tux shot, the cap and gown, and sometimes even a casual. But you are not required to purchase from them.

That's fine for the yearbook. But for your custom portraits, the ones you've been waiting all this time for, the ones you give to family and friends, and of course, the ones you display of your "baby" on the wall, you want more than a school picture.  Seniors and parents who want the best come to Jena Golden Photography for quality, variety and the best senior experience around Forsyth County!

Can I use my images in the yearbook?

Of course!  You can use any of your purchased images for your yearbook or yearbook ad if you desire (and if the school allows it).  If you aren’t sure what is needed for your yearbook, feel free to forward me your yearbook advisor's information.  We are happy to help!

What if it rains the day of our session?
Yep!  Sometimes it rains.  As much as we would like to control the weather, we haven't figured it out just yet!  We do watch the weather closely if things look iffy.  And we stay in close contact with you.  If we do get rained out, we will re-schedule your session for another day/time or we may choose to go ahead and shoot the studio portion of it if you are a local Forsyth County client.

What should I bring to my Session Premiere / Design Appointment?

We make ordering with JGP easy and will walk you though the process to create custom products like albums, wall displays, or storyboards. Make sure you’ve reviewed the product guide before you come in, and if you plan to purchase frames or a wall display, measure your walls to see what size is best for you.

What should I expect at my ordering appointment?

First off, this is not a chore!  Haha!  It’s a blast to view your whole gallery up on a big screen, then plan your custom products with our help. Clients learn about our rewards program, are able to hold and see each product choice in person, and can utilize our expertise to help with choosing and designing the right products. We take as much time as needed to answer all of your questions, and make sure that when you leave, you feel completely confident in your order!

Yes, we specialize in senior portraits, but we occasionally photograph other special milestones in life.  Here are some common questions we get asked about those:

Do you shoot weddings?

We do not currently shoot weddings, but we DO love to shoot engagement sessions and can refer you to some great wedding photographers in the area!

What is the best time for maternity portraits?

We recommend that a maternity shoot be scheduled close to your 30-week mark. Give us a call in your second trimester to book your session.

What is the best time for newborn portraits?
The absolute best time to get those sleepy, curled up newborn portraits is from 1-10 days of life. For our Signature Newborn Sessions, give us a call in your second trimester to book! We also photograph babies up to 12 weeks old in our Lifestyle Newborn Sessions! These sessions are laid back and baby is comfortably swaddled the whole time. We can usually get you in for a Lifestyle Newborn Session even after baby is born!

What is the best time for baby portraits?

We love the 6-9 months stage! They’re sitting up, smiling and can really show off their personality!

What is the best time for Christmas portraits?

In order to receive products for the holiday season, you should book your session before October 31st. We cannot guarantee products arriving before Christmas for sessions booked after the 31st.
